Probate records [microform], 1949-1953.

Probate records can be one or more of the following: wills, order books, appraisements, inventories and settlements. They are filed in the county court generally at the time the death occurred. There may be indexes to the probate records available. Sales and settlements of the estate follow an appraisal and inventory. The sale will record each item sold, its price and the name of the buyer, usually a relative or neighbor. After completion of the sale, the estate is settled. All heirs and their spouses are listed in the settlement. If land is partitioned to settle the estate, those records would be recorded in the deeds.
